Which region are you from? Since ABBYY sells from region, it might be best to go to the main contact website and email the sales for that region. Also it might be best to actually go through a reseller or go through some training. FlexiCapture is very overwhelming with all the settings and stuff.

I write this as a genuine source of feedback to Abbyy and not an attack.

I spent weeks finding an answer to the question you asked fisenkodv. The entire process is predicated on a lie....

I filled out the form. I sent several follow up emails when I did not receive a response. I answered many questions in detail via email when I finally got someone. We went back and forth, question after question, and the rep called my office without me giving him the number -- he looked it up based on the feedback I gave him. We then spoke on the phone a couple of times; all the while, I anticipated a chance to test the program any minute based on his response. Then finally, rather than an opportunity to actually test this program (which was impossible to find specific information on the site despite an annoying amount of reading and searching), I'm being scheduled to speak with a regional rep at 10am a day from now....

This new regional rep completely blows off the appointment. I have to reach out to the original Abbyy rep again via email and phone. Oh, the regional rep went on vacation, he'll get back to you in 5 days. 5 days later - nothing. Then I call Abby headquarters shocked by the run around, and I interestingly enough get connected to the original rep by the operator. He reaches back out to the 'regional rep' and I email the regional rep again. A day later, WOW, the rep calls me (well after another redirect it became the reps employee or affiliate or something).

We talk... And here's the lie: they DON'T GIVE OUT TRIALS ANYMORE! Okay, I can live with that, fine, I guess. Then he tells me the price. $20 thousand. So I can't test this $20k program but was lead to believe I could; and you made me waste hours and hours over weeks to know this?

In the end, the price is completely insane as someone who has spent several hundred dollars on FineReader and used it. They do not appear to be that different of software, but who could possibly know when Abbyy seems to not share anything.

I have hit road blocks finding sample code for their fine reader sdk (not cloud), flexicapture, anything, its ridiculous - and I get the same feeling about these programs where the info I want just never comes and I'm mislead on their site. I was willing to drop $5k for my small business project with some wiggle room, but this company has completely alienated me. And I'm sad about that. We are developers, and are going to use either Atalasoft or LeadTools which were infinitely more direct and easy to test. Not sure yet. I still feel like I didn't truly get to see what Abby has to offer, but then again, it seems nearly impossible.
