Hello!
We are using FlexiCapture 11 in our company and has a controversy between developers and support service.
Support refuses to install new releases via project update. They say somthing like "we can break some preferences in production by updating project, give us an instruction how to update all of the things manually".
It is a great pain for developers to write such manuals beacuse it need a lot of time to list all changes that was performed with screenshots. They believe, that this approach leads to a higher risks because of forgotten things in instruction.
Does some best practices exist on this issue? Who is right and who is wrong? How to install updates in production safely? Is there any way to see differences between two projects in detail?

Hello,
You may find the list of release notes on the site: http://abbyydownloads.com/fc11/ and see what changes were made and documented.
As we can see the standard way of updating FlexiCapture in production complexes of our clients is to make an update in the testing environment, look if there are any issues after it and, if there are no issues, update the production environment.
The step-by-step assistance in the updating is out of scope of this forum, as it covers only the basic questions, but you may address for your purpose to the Professional Services team of your ABBYY regional support.
Ekaterina, thanks for your answer!
I mean update of projects, not FlexiCapture software itself.

Could you please give us your email? Our specialist will contact you for future consultation.
Hi All,
i know its a old thread , but want to know the best practice and approach for project deployment in production. any recommendation for training batch update and migration to production server.
Thanks,
Dheeraj
This would be really useful to know as we occasionally get 'Unrelated Project' errors between our 2 environments.
We have the same dilemma too. We have DEV project, SIT project, UAT project, and PRODUCTION project. Is there a way to push changes from DEV project up to PROD project? Because currently we are doing the same thing over for each project whenever we have changes.
Abegail,
Look at the FC Admin tool. Its a command line option that lets you export project and push project to other environement.
