Hi,
Is any one of you using FC Engine? If so then why did you prefer it over the regular FC (FC Server)? And any idea if FC Engine licensing is more costly then regular FC and if so then approx by how much?
We are currently using FC Server and I am wondering whether to move to FC Engine will give any benefits e.g. FC Server does not support voting which I think FC Engine does.
Thanks,
- Manoj

The underlying technology is different between FC Engine and FC Application so some feature might not be the same within one product vs another. In General FC Engine will be cheaper but you need to develop all your stations and system. For example, how would you deal with performance on the engine? In the app server side, you just add more Processing Station. In the FCEngine side you will need to code your logic. Maybe start up more process? They will use the same project though.
As for the voting option, FCEngine doesn't do that either. It will give you a confidence level of the character. You would need to get the other engine and develop the "voting" system. Same thing with the App server. Technically with the Distributed model, you can create a workflow to use an external engine too. Script your logic for the voting.
In any case, it might be better to talk to your sales rep. They can provide you with a trial of both product and give you a pro/con depending on your solution you are looking for.
