Using xml file generated by scanner for output subfolder

Hello, i like to use a xml file that is generated by my multifunctional device to use a metadata information created by the device for the output sub folder.
I tried with the Indexfunction(Step 5) but get a error xml analyse "error root Tag" (sorry i have a German language version of Abbyy Recognition Server 4, so the translated error message might be wrong) : IndexingSettings. I used the example from the help file.

THX and best regards

    Hello fbreiten,

    It seems that you tried the approach described in RS Help > Remote Administration Console > How to... > Configure document indexing, Specify document attributes. If so, then simply importing the ready XML generated by your MFD may lead to the error you faced only if the XML is not valid. If the XML is correct (even if it does not correspond to the structure expected by RS), you should not get any errors about root tags. Please check whether the XML generated by your MFD is valid (you can use any validator, e.g. free online).

    Please note that you can extract any information you need and use it for indexing or export folders naming by means of script: just open the XML file and parce it to find the values you need.

    If you still have any difficulties with this, please send us the XML that you are trying to use and describe your scenario (what values exactly you would like to get from this XML and how they should be used for document processing). Please additionally post a screenshot with the error (even if it is in German).

    Dear Katja,

    thanks for your Answer. I check the XML with your Online links, but there are no Errors. As i wrote, the example that is in the help file also show this error.
    Here is a example XML from our MFP. (I can to upload .xml files so i change it into .txt). Currently i can not send a screen shot because the PC (Laptop) that i am using is on the way to a trade show. So i can not test again before the 25.4.

    Dear fbreiten,

    Thanks for the XML. Indeed it seems correct and caused no errors when we tried to load it at the Indexing tab on our side.
    To be able to assist you we anyway need:
    1. Detailed description of the scenario:
    • where you try to load the XMl,
    • what error you get,
    • what information from this XMl you need to use and how.
    2. Please also specify the exact version of your RecognitionServer copy (open the Remote Administration Console, Help > About ABBYY Recognition Server 4.0 Console)
    3. Post a screenshot of the error.
    4. The diagnostic report from your RS installation:
    - Open the Remote Administration Console;
    - Reproduce the error with XML;
    - Right-click the Server node, choose Run Diagnostic Tool...
    - Wait until the utility finishes working and share the generated archive with us.

    Dear Katja,

    The scenario is quite simple : I want to use the information in Patientenverfuegung to use it as output folder. Thats all.

    Dear fbreiten,

    You still have not confirmed that I correctly understood you loaded the XML on the Indexing tab using the Import button

    But if so and if you need to take DocumentType and use it for subfolder naming, it should be enough to specify within a file naming scheme on the Output tab/ For more details please see Help > Remote Administration console > Dialog Boxes > Workflows node dialogs > Workflow properties > Output tab > File naming and output path. Note: to be able to use this you should ensure the appropriate XML structure, that is, the XML you are loading should correspond to the scheme described "Configure Document Indexing" article in Help, otherwise the DocumentType may not be picked up properly at the Indexing stage.

    And again, the same can be done with scripts.

    Dear Katja, because i currently does not have my PC with the server available, i can not answer to all of your question. As soon i come back from the trade show (or during, depending how many people will visit our booth) i will test again. If you can send me a test license, i can do the test on a second PC. Server Version is 4.

    Thanks for helping

    Dear Frank,

    no problem, you can provide the necessary information as soon as you can. I just shared my assumptions and tips so you can consider them in your future tests

    Unfortunately I am not authorized to provide customers with test licenses, but you can anytime request an additional license via the support channel (contact ABBYY Office serving your region).
