Is it possible to generate a document definition from a fillable PDF? A competitor to Abbyy will detect the form fields on a PDF and auto-create all the document elements for all the check boxes and text fields. Does your product also do that? This is a great feature because a form may have many fields and check boxes and we have many forms to create document definitions for. It will take a long time if we have to manually create all the fields.
Also, when I use the feature "Auto detect object by type", it won't detect any of the text fields and only some of the check boxes from my blank PDF. For instance, there might be 3 check boxes in a check box group, but it only detects 2 of them.

The functionality you are asking for is available in ABBYY FormDesigner, this is an extra tool delivered together with FlexiCapture and intended to create machine-readable forms.
There you can import form from a searchable PDF. After import all the text from the text layer will be imported as reference text and fillable fields will be detected as fields of corresponding type. If necessary, you can correct them in FormDesigner, then publish the created form and then create a Document Definition in FlexiCapture based on that form.
This approach is described in details in FlexiCapture 11 Help, Program settings > Document Definitions > Importing a Document Definition for forms created with ABBYY FormDesigner.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Do I understand right that all the text is lost after import to FormDesigner?
If so, please provide us with the following details:
1. Build number of your FormDesigner copy (Help > About, Build / Part);
2. The PDF you are trying to import.
This feature is available actually right away from the basic version of FormDesigner. If it doesn't work as supposed to for you, so maybe there were any issues with the exact document you were using to do so. Try to inspect the document with the different tool, like this as an example https://edit-pdf.pdffiller.com it's a paid one yet has a free trial for such purposes of one-time usage
Hi, thanks for the advice! Do you know some good plugins for adding PDF files to the web pages formatted as reviews to the website https://self-starters.com/ I am currently working on?
