LicensingSettings.xml

In a Company network 2 Abbyy Applicationservers are active (Abbyy FlexiCapture 11), each with their specific Abbyy project and their own protection server and licenses.

The users run their Verification Station in a Citrix environment.
In that environment the LicensingSettings.xml can only point to 1 Protectionserver.

How can this be solved so the user that logs in will use their own specific license?

In Abbyy FlexiCapture 12 it is probably solved with multi tenancy.

Is their a way to solve this in Abbyy FlexiCapture 11 as well?

    Could you please describe your usage scenario in more details? What type of Verification station are you using?

    The Remote Verification station can login to different Servers if the FlexiCapture Authentication module is set up.

    To connect the "thick" Verification station to different servers, you may use different versions of LicensingSettings.xml file pointing to each to its' own protection server (e.g. LicensingSettings_server1.xml, LicensingSettings_server2.xml...) and by renaming/replacing the LicensingSettings.xml in "...\ABBYY FlexiCapture 11 Stations" folder every time you launch the Verification Station (to simplify the switching, all that could be done in some kind of batch file)

    Please let us know if the proposed approach meets your needs.

    Thank you Ekaterina,

    The usage scenario is a "thick" Verification Station in a Citrix environment in a multi tenant network.
    2 tenants run their own Abbyy FC11 project.

    Since this runs in a Citrix environment and all users start the same Verification Station, I have the following  questions:

    - Does Abbyy need the LicenseSettings.xml only once at startup?
    - What happens when 2 or more users start up their Verification Station at almost the same time?

    Both the production and the test environment use the same Verification station, so testing would be difficult without interrupting the production environment.

    Hello,

    There is a limit for station's number in your license. 

    If the number of stations does not exceed this limit – they will work. The excess stations will not launch.

    More detailed advices about setting up the FC in the complex environment are out of scope of the forum, so please contact your regional support.

    The setting is not complex.
    Abbyy FlexiCapture FC11 just doesn't support multi-tenant installations.

    Since updating to Abbyy FC12 isn't an option at the moment, we have to deal with the problems.

    Most important (general) question you didn't answer is:

    - Does Abbyy need the LicenseSettings.xml only once at startup?

    If that can be answered wiith a yes, your suggested solution with the batch files might work

    Hello,

    LicenseSettings.xml is needed at startup of the ABBYY FlexiCapture Licensing Service. Theoretically changing the file and the restating the service should work, but in that scenario the session on already opened Verification station most likely will be closed. You will have to conduct some test to find this out.
