Is it recommended to install ABBYY FlexiCapture Stations in production environment or only servers are needed to be installed?

It depends on what kind of performance you want, and if you are willing to sacrifice performance on desktop computers that run flexicapture
I'm working under the assumption that you are referring to the distributed installation here, obviously a standalone install would not be able to exist in several different environments
The Application, licensing, production, and database servers should absolutely be installed in a high performance environment.
The processing stations CAN be assigned to local desktops, but any time they are working on a task (say recognition for example) they will consume a lot of resources and slow everything else down. It's recommended to install the processing stations on dedicated production computers for this reason, but it's not a requirement.
All other stations (scanning, project setup, verification, FL Studio, etc.) can be installed on local desktop computers and configured to work with the remote application server
