I exported .xml file from Invoice settings, added "located elements" and "keywords" to it and imported back to Invoice settings. It is showing the newly created element with keywords added to it. But how to make it work in document definition? I added the same field in Doc Defn but doesn't seem to be worked. Any idea?

I am afraid you will have to create alternative flexilayout in flexilayout studio and do your own logic to extract the requested data using keywords you have entered in XML...
You have functions to access XML from FlexiLayout project.
