Drop down doesn't work when another value is there

Hi,

I have a field "CompanyID" whose value is captured from invoice. I want to give that a drop down of other values.

I tried to do it by giving values from database. But when that field has a value captured from the invoice , drop down doesn't allow to select another value listed from it. How to do setting so that we can have captured value as well as select another value from drop down when we dont want value captured from invoice.
