I am trying to see if FineReader will extract figures from pdf of scientific papers. So far when using Finereader Pro for Mac, the program will identify the figures but often times the program is too good and the selected area is not a rectangle but a shape with multiple corners/ right angles. Is there a way to have all areas be created as rectangles only?
The second goal is to extract the figures and place them into a searchable pdf without the main text of the paper. So far I can extract the images to jpg via the export to HTML then rescan to convert to searchable pdf, but this seems needlessly complicated and I feel I am missing something obvious that would let me extract the images to a separate pdf in one step.
