Insufficient OCR of figure captions/numbers (FR14)

Dear support,

I have to deal with a lot of drawings with numbers in them as captions. I need to be able to search for a specific number in large documents' drawings. While FR does a phantastic job with regular text, not so with drawings, even when I send them to the OCR editor, mark them as "Text", and recognize. Of course I won't draw a text box around every number.

Please find below an example. The numbers are clearly identifiable and it should be possible to OCR them. Any clues? Thanks, best regards Jens

    Hello Jens,

Drawings are detected as illustrations by FineReader. Bits of texts, such as captions, can be caught by FineReader in illustrations, it works better on usual office type illustrations such as diagrams and charts, but worse on drawings, especially black and white. Unfortunately, there are no options available to adjust how FineReader searches for texts inside illustrations to improve the results for drawings.

    Best regards,
