Looking to OCR PDF, but then replace original text with OCR'd text while keeping the PDF layout and format.

I am looking to OCR a bunch of documents with photos I have scanned into a PDF, have Abby 15 and have run it, saving the results as a Searchable PDF. The text is all there, it looks amazing when the page is loading, but when the page has finished loading, it overlays the OLD text photo over the OCR'd text.

My end goal is to OCR all the text, then have Abby delete the old text and replace it with the new OCR text. Thereby reducing file size drastically and making it much more readable. I can not find the setting for this, am I missing something?

If I am NOT missing it and it is just NOT there. This should REALLY be added in the future. Would be a real big upgrade.

Well. I am an idiot. However for those who have this same question. The answer is...

Tools -> Options -> Format Settings -> Searchable PDF Settings -> Text Over Page Images.

Works Amazing. Yet another reason to LOVE Abbyy!!

Hi JawnSmith, thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you managed to found the solution yourself, and thank you very much for posting it here - I'm sure it will be useful for other users too. Sorry for not being able to get back to you with the solution earleir in reply to your initial post.

For your documents, you can also try "Text and pictures only" mode - it may work for the task too.

    Have a nice day!
