Export to the shared folder and import from the shared folder does not work on the training VM opened in VirtualBox

If you use VirtualBox to work with the training VMs, you may face the situation when export to the shared folder or (and) import from the shared folder fails with the error message similar to the one below:
The task failed after its non-recurrent subtask failed.
Could not export to 'Main' because An error occurred while accessing \\127.0.0.1\ExportFolder\Export\batch 4\: The network location cannot be reached. For Information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help.

If you try to open the folder from the error message in Windows File Explorer, you will also see the "Windows can't access the folder" message.

The issue is connected with the VM settings in VirtualBox. Windows 10 is running on the training VM. The network adapter driver, which VirtualBox uses as the default, is no longer supported in Windows 10. Thus, you need to change the settings.

  1. Turn off your VirtualMachine.
  2. Go to the VM Settings in VirtualBox

  3. Select Network from the list on the left side.

  4. Click Advanced on the Adapter 1 tab.

  5. Set Adapter Type to Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM).

  6. Enable Cable connected checkmark and click OK:

  7. Power on the VM.
The first start may take longer than usual.

Once the VM is started, it will show you that it is connected to the network or ask your permission to connect to the network. In this case, grant the permission.
