Text exported to Word comes out as frames and not text boxes

I'm using Finereader 15. I marked some text in an image with the Text tool (creating a green overlay around it), recognized it and exported the image as an "editable copy" of Word file. The text comes out in what Words call "frames" instead of true text boxes, which is the difference between the left and right-side boxes, respectively, in this screenshot:

How can I make the text come out like in the right-side of the picture?

    Hi Eric Oaks

To find out a workaround for your situation, we require an example of your file and some additional clarification.
I created a support ticket for further investigation. Please await the reply.

    Best regards,

    Hi, Eric and Margarita,

I have a similar question. I understand that frames are necessary to put the text in the ideal position, corresponding to the original (PDF). But for certain purposes I would like to avoid the frames (and text boxes as well) completely.

With exporting the file as an "Editable copy" there is significantly less frames and no text boxes, but the text appears in the correct order. Couldn't ABBYY make a difference between "Exact copy" WITH frames/textboxes and "Editable copy" without?

Hi Christine, thank you for your feedback! Could you please describe in details those purposes for which you'd like to avoid frames/boxes completely? If you can send a document sample, that would be perfect!

(I'd like to notice though, that in some cases it would be probably wrong not to use frames or text boxes for text, for example, in case of texts inside images.)

    Best regards,

    Yuriy

    Hi, Yuriy,
Thank you for your quick reply already last night! I will have to look for a document that can be published here (much of our translator's work has to be treated confidentially).

One of the problems is that often the frames do not "grow", when the translated text is longer than the original. Of course, if they grew, the next frame would have to move further down and give space. But probably there is no relationship between them, as all the frames have their individual anchor?

Eric's question is also of interest here, because in Word text boxes can be connected to each other with the text moving the the next text box "by itself".

About 7 years ago, Jim Hill touched my question, too (https://support.abbyy.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360009078980-Export-to-Word-without-Frames).

If you, Yuriy, feel, this should be two different threads, let me know.

    Best wishes,

    Christine

    Hello Christine,

We would like to look a bit deeper into the issue with the "frames" in your MS Word resulting file. I will create a support ticket based on your last comment here and our Customer Support agent will inform you what information we need for the investigation. In some cases it is possible to find a workaround for the specific document.

    Regards,
    Victoria
