OCR'd document management

Once upon a time, I was a Mac user... and there was this fantastic software called DEVONthink Pro Office.

Coupled with a Fujitsu ScanSnap device, you could scan documents in, have them automatically OCR'd and then it'd store them in a database the app created, but still in native PDF format.

It used ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap.

I'm wondering if there's anything comparable in terms of document management for the full FineReader PDF but on Windows.

It sure would be nice to have one place to store (and have indexed!) all scanned docs. So you can search for "the quick brown fox" and it would know which doc(s) that phrase occurred in.

Is there some functionality like this in the app already? or does it require something external?

Hi Aaron! Unfortunately, indexing and search across multiple documents is not supported by the desktop FineReader PDF. However, indexing of multiple document is supported by ABBYY FineReader Server for document digitization and archiving tasks (you can learn more about it by this link).
