An idea for a future update:
In order to be able to read on electronic readers such as Kindle, Kobo Pocket Books or Onyx, books in pdf-image format, of varying volume, and often requiring redistribution, from libraries such as Archive.org, and containing images-illustrations in binary format, would it not be possible, after passing the OCR of AbbyyFine reader 16, when saving in PDF format, "exact copy" to have an option of complete deletion of all images-illustrations recognized as such, as is possible for saving in other formats, such as docx, odt or epub, where we currently have the choice of keeping them or not, in the “exact copy” mode.
Indeed, when reading on an electronic reader, such as Kindle, Kobo Pocket Books or Onyx which often have insufficient RAM memory, it seems that it is the weight of these image-illustrations, which are at the origin of many crashes or blocking. I therefore specify that the goal would be to ultimately save a file in pdf format, “exact copy” but without images-illustrations, however with OCR “text under the page image”, and MRC compression.

Hello!
Thank you for the suggestion!
When saving converted documents to PDF, FineReader always uses "Exact copy" layout retention mode. Deleting pictures by turning off the option "Keep pictures" is possible when saving to PDF only in the "text and pictures only" PDF mode. When using "text under the page image" or "text over the page image" PDF modes, this option is not available as these modes, as their names imply, are intended to keep the page image intact in the ouput PDF, including the illustrations.
You can find details about PDF saving options in this Help article.
However, I'll ask the product development team to check if it is technically possible to allow turning "Keep pictures" off for "text under the page image" or "text over the page image" PDF modes, and if it is, we'll consider adding this capability to one of the future FineReader PDF updates.
