DataSets versus Database Lookups

I have a lot of lookup fields and some are rather large, 30,000 rows. I noticed that FC11 has a local dataset feature. I was wondering if it was faster to use the local dataset versus external lookup. By faster I mean in the Verification window doesn't have to be during recognition.

I should have noticed this earlier

    Data Sets

Access to corporate data by using a cached copy of the original database which speeds up document processing, reduces security risks and provide additional capabilities.

I'll have to do some testing to see which works out better. Our system is very dynamic, we use values from each records to further develop the database lookups.

    Hello,

Local dataset lookup will work most likely faster than external database one. If I understood you right you don't want to choose the right value on verification. It is possible to fill some field's value using local dataset automatically if the recognized value of the field differs from the values in the dataset. In this case the necessary dataset value can be chosen according to a value of another field (for example invoice number).

    Hope that helps,

Hi Vladislav, I am using the datasets in verification (validation of data). I have a scripted some database lookups that happens during recognition, these scripts work much better than the database lookup that is in the software.

I put the local data sets to use last night and I'll run some test to see how much more responsive the system is.

    Thanks again.
