   Hi Matt, 

  Hope all is well. Here is how we use the products for along with what I know about the products we have not used.

  • Recognition Server - used for converting images or documents to searchable PDFs or raw text.
    
    •  Pros
      
      • Cheaper
      • Good for converting images to searchable pdfs
    • Cons 
      •    Wouldn't use for Advanced classification
      •    Wouldn't use for field extraction
    •    Use Cases
      •   Convert historical archive of scanned documents into searchable PDFs.
      •   Convert Documents in Sharepoint library to searchable PDFs.
      •   Send Documents from our Internal application to Recognition server via API and return searchable pdfs or text to analyze.
        
        
  • FlexiCapture
    •    Pros
      • Great for field capture for structured and semistructured data
      • Has built in AI to enhance field capture as documents are processed
      • Easy to use out of the box with no coding but allows .NET scripting to enhance the solution
    • Cons
      •    More expensive.
    • Use Cases
      • Invoice Extraction  - FCI
      • Fixed Formed Field Extraction - Healthcare Forms, Test Requisitions etc.
      • Semi-Structured Field Extraction - Invoice, Bill of Lading, etc
      • Unstructured Field Extraction - Contracts, Mortgage Documents, Lease/Loan Documents etc
  • Fine Reader - Consumer/Desktop version of Recognition Server. 
    
    
  • FlexiCapture for Mailrooms - Not sure if ABBYY is actually selling this any longer. I had seen a demo back in the day however i believe it is just the "Advanced Classification" module that is now baked into ABBYY FC12 and not a separate product.
    
    
  • Fine Reader Engine SDK- Used for converting images to plain text or searchable documents. This is the engine that is powers Recognitions server. It basically allows you to use the methods in Recognition server within your own App. Maybe ABBYY will start calling Recognition Server "Fine Reader Server"...
    
    
  • FlexiCapture Engine SDK - Used for Document Separation Classification, and Extraction. This is the engine that powers the FlexiCapture product line.

  Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. The above is purely based on my knowledge and understanding.
