OCR Engine Accuracy - finereader desktop version versus same for cloud version

Hi,

Is the OCR engine used for the ABBYY cloud a different version than the OCR engine for the desktop version of the fine-reader? I heard they are different engines, but it is hard to image that the cloud would use a different OCR engine than the desktop version. So if I use the cloud then I can expect a different accuracy level than using the desktop version for the same document?

Thanks.

At the moment (on 22 July 2016) the current actual versions are the following:

    • ABBYY FineReader Engine 11:

    Build# 11.1.16.94

    OCR Technology build# 13.0.25.66

    • ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK is based on FineReader Engine 11:

    Build# 11.1.17.48

    OCR Technology build# 13.0.27.39

Both products are based on the 13th generation of our OCR technologies, and differences in these technology branches are minimal. It means that differences in the outputs are possible but it is very unlikely. If you see the differences in the results between FineReader Engine 11 and Cloud OCR SDK, most probable they are connected with differences in the used recognition settings.
