Abbyy Run Time license on Virtual machine

Hi,

As per our requirement we are going to purchase Run time license for Abbyy Fine Reader Engine and we may plan it to install a Network License on the server which will be on Virtual Machine. Can that be used by the Workstations where our SDK application is installed  from where the Virtual machine is accessible by Citrix or some VPN?

    Hi Macwan,

    Yes, it can be used in such pair. Officially, FRE has been tested only the following environments. Nevertheless, you may try to use other platforms too.

    According to requests from our customers, we would recommend the following:

    • The best option is to use Cloud protection. It's designed mainly for VMs to avoid typical difficulties. You can read more about it here.
    • In case you'll use usual protection, please perform a separate installation for both host machine and virtual machine. Mounting the host's installation folder to VM may cause errors.

    As for the connection, the licensing system uses own connection interface, all you need is to choose protocol in a special file LicensingSettings.xml.
