Custom Export Script returns an error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Excel.Application'

Symptoms

Custom Export Script to Excel throws an error:
ActiveX component can't create object: 'Excel.Application'

Cause

The issue may be related to the insufficient permissions for Excel of the user account that runs the Processing Station.

Resolution

  1. Open the Run dialog by pressing the Win+R.
  2. Type dcomcnfg and press Enter to open Component Services.
  3. Go to Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config.
  4. Find the Microsoft Excel Application in the list.
  5. Right-click on the Microsoft Excel Application and select Properties.
  6. Go to the Identity tab.
  7. Select the This user option and provide a user under which Excel is installed and registered.
  8. Click OK to confirm the changes.
