Symptoms

Error message occurs during updating FineReader PDF 16:

"Error writing to file: %Disk%\Program Files\ABBYYFineReader16\26641c.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory".

Cause

The Research and Development Department is aware of this situation and is investigating the issue for further fixing.

Resolution

As a temporary workaround solution, please follow the instructions below:

1. Restart the computer and try to update the copy of the program again.
2. Disable all third-party antivirus software (including registry cleaners) and try to update the program again.

If none of the above-listed instructions help to resolve the issue:

1. Remove the program from the computer: How to completely remove FineReader PDF 16 for Windows.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Install the latest version of FineReader PDF into the default system folder in the default directory: C:\Program Files\ABBYY FineReader 16.
