Transferring user patterns and languages to another computer

Question

How to transfer the user patterns and languages to another computer?

Answer

To transfer the user patterns and languages to another computer, please follow the next steps:

  1. Save patterns and languages:
      1. In the opened OCR project, open the OCR tab of the Options dialog box (click Tools > Options... to open this dialog box).
      2. Click the Save Patterns and Languages... button.

      3. In the dialog box that opens, type a name for a file, select the path for saving, and click Save to *.fbt (for FineReader PDF 15) /*.fbtx (for FineReader PDF 16) file.

This file will contain the path to the folder where the user languages, language groups, dictionaries, and patterns are stored.

  2.  Load user patterns and languages:
      1. Copy the saved file with extension *.fbt/*.fbtx to another computer with FineReader 16 or FineReader PDF 15 installed.
      2. In the opened OCR project, open the OCR tab of the Options dialog box (click Tools > Options... to open this dialog box).
      3. Click the Load Patterns and Languages... button > Select the required *.fbt (for FineReader PDF 15) /*.fbtx (for FineReader PDF 16) file > click Open

A pattern can only be used for documents that have the same font, font size, and resolution as the document used to create the pattern.

Note: When an OCR project is saved, not only the page images and recognized text are saved, but also any patterns and languages created while working on the project are saved in this OCR project.
