Symptoms

After creating the FlexiLayout and exporting it to FlexiCapture, the Character String is not captured on one or several pages or the field keeps capturing unnecessary text on a completely different spot on the page. For example:

Cause

This can happen due to the "anchor" element (for example, Static Text) used to find the Character String in FlexiLayout is not recognized correctly. 

As in the example above, there is the text "YN" as a search text for this Static Text element. But it is incorrectly recognized as "VN". As a result, when this FlexiLayout is used, the program cannot find this anchor and tries to find it in some other place, thus mistakenly finding a completely different region or not finding anything at all.

The misrecognition itself could happen due to the poor quality of the image, complex font, etc.

Resolution

There are two possible ways to prevent this from happening:

• In FlexiLayout Studio, go to Static Text properties, and in the Search text field add possible "incorrect" variants for the keyword. This is the most certain way to get the desired result.

  

• If you are not sure what the possible "incorrect" variants are, you can use the Max number of errors setting. The default value of Max error percentage is 30, you can increase it to allow the program to take unreliable characters into consideration.
