Symptoms

The installation of FineReader Server 14 fails. The installation logs have the following error messages.

Error Data:1722;Launch_ConfigureOCRServer.exe_Install;C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader Server 14.0\Bin\;"C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader Server 14.0\Bin\ConfigureOCRServer.exe" /ADD_FIREWALL_RULES

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action Launch_ConfigureOCRServer.exe_Install, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader Server 14.0\Bin\, command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ABBYY FineReader Server 14.0\Bin\ConfigureOCRServer.exe" /ADD_FIREWALL_RULES

Cause

The installer is not able to configure Windows Firewall settings due to the system security settings.

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1. Reboot the computer
2. Run the installation as Administrator.
3. During the installation uncheck Allow ABBYY FineReader Server through Windows Firewall.

If needed (if the FineReader Server will be used in a Distributed installation), the Windows Firewall can be configured after the installation is complete. To do this, open the TCP ports 3990-3993 for the Inbound and Outbound connections.
