Is license deactivation required to reinstall/upgrade ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 on the same server?

I need to upgrade ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 on the same machine. Do I need to deactivate the license before uninstalling ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 components?

Answer

To upgrade ABBYY FlexiCapture 12 to a higher version on the same machine, it is not required to deactivate the license. Just uninstall FlexiCapture 12, install the newer version, and the license will be picked up automatically (by default license information is stored in C:\ProgramData\ABBYY\FlexiCapture\12.0\Licenses) unless any changes to the server hardware configuration have been made or Windows OS has been reinstalled.

    If i want to install abbyy in a new computer,do i need to deactivate the license key in old computer first.

    Hi! Yes, normally you need to deactivate the license from the old machine, and then you will be able to activate it on a new one.
