How to add transparent text layers to the PDF without altering the original graphics

I have purchased FineReader 15.

I use a scanner with bundled software that can produce PDFs with properly aligned rectangular pages.  To apply OCR, any modification is not necessary.

I would like to add transparent text layers to the scanned PDF using FineReader's OCR, but the original graphic images are being altered.  I opened 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Image Processing' and disabled all the options, but the images were still modified.

Is there any way to add transparent text layers without altering the original graphics?

Hi Yoshitan! To add only a text layer to a document and exclude the preprocessing of its image, please recognize a document in the PDF Editor and save it as described in our Help Center article Adding only text layer to PDF document in PDF Editor.

    Thank you for your reply.

I had read the article titled "Adding Only a Text Layer to a PDF Document in PDF Editor" before writing my previous message, but the menu layout in my version of FineReader PDF 15 appears to be different.  It may be due to a version mismatch.

I've uploaded the relevant screenshots to my Google Drive:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LxsUYqkhNTqRGQM9_-Hk8kS0dMpOXmYY/view?usp=sharing

When I launched the program, Screenshot1 appeared.  I then selected 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Other', and clicked the Reset button shown in Screenshot2 to test the default settings.

Next, I clicked 'Open in OCR Editor' in Screenshot1 and opened a PDF file.  OCR started immediately, as shown in Screenshot3.

After OCR completed, I selected 'File' > 'Save As' > 'Searchable PDF Document' to save the file as a new PDF.

The original file size was 18,101,501 bytes, while the searchable PDF was reduced to 9,067,392 bytes.  Screenshot4 shows the original page, and Screenshot5 shows the searchable version.  The image quality in the searchable PDF is noticeably degraded and no longer matches the original.

    Thank you for your help.

I have "Nuance Power PDF Standard", which was bundled with my scanner.  This software allows me to add transparent text layers to PDFs without altering the original graphics.  I would like to know if the same can be done using "ABBYY FineReader PDF 15".
