Symptoms

When importing emails  via IMAP or Pop3 and converting them with OpenOffice import task fails with the following error:

Failed to open the file '...' using embedded Office application. Exit code: 4.

Cause

One of the possible causes is missing VC++ Redistributable for x86.

Another possible cause for this issue is described in the following Help Center article:
FlexiCapture 12: Error on IMAP import: "Failed to open the file using embedded Office application. Exit code: 4."

Resolution

Installing VC++ Redistributable for x86 (could be found in the FC12 installer ISO at NLP x64\VC_Redist) on all processing machines might resolve this issue. 

If you installed the specified Redist and still experience this issue consider submitting a ticket to the ABBYY Support team
