How to set up Google Mail as an SMTP server in FlexiCapture 12 Distributed?

Answer

If you want to set up the SMTP Server in the Administration and Monitoring Console of FlexiCapture 12 using the Google Mail (smtp.gmail.com) you can get the SMTP Login Failed error when testing the connection. If this happens, make sure that you enabled the 2-Step Verification for your Google account.

In case if the 2-Step Verification is not enabled, the SMTP server will close the connection from FlexiCapture as suspicious, thus, the SMTP Login Failed will be returned.

To enable the 2-Step Verification:

Go to your Google Account settings.
Open the Security tab.
Find the 2-Step Verification switch and turn it on.

In order for the FlexiCapture to be able to log in to the SMTP Server, create the App Password for it and use it instead of the Google Account password.

Another way to prevent FlexiCapture SMTP blocking by Google is to enable "less secure apps" on the level of Google account as described here:
