SQL default port changing

Question

How to change Default Port 1433 for SQL Server connection?

Answer

In order to change it please go to the All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager, then SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration -> Client Protocols -> TCP/IP -> Properties. There you can find Default Port 1433.

If the database is already configured to use the port, then please specify the port after the comma sign in the Administration and Monitoring Console.

The server instance name will be <instance_name>, <port_number>.
